When Meaning Doesn’t Mean Much (Why life might be more about resonance than revelation)

Ershad Alamgir Season 2025 Episode 2

(Listen to this reflection posted originally on Substack)

An attempt to deconstruct the myth of meaning-

“When meaning feels out of reach, maybe what we’re really seeking is resonance.”

Modern individualism promises freedom, yet often leaves us searching for meaning in isolation. Through the lens of neuroscience and moral philosophy, this reflection examines how our brains weave coherence from chaos, and why the good life — as the philosopher Alasdair MacIntyre reminds us — depends less on autonomy than on attunement, trust, and care. It’s a query into the brain’s search for coherence and our shared need for connection ,especially, in a world obsessed with finding purpose where we often overlook the quieter rhythms that make life feel real. It might reveal a truth older than reason: meaning isn’t a destination — it’s a frequency we tune to, together.
